| everything is finally falling into place.
1. my worries about being unemployed until january are henceforth absolved, as my macy's merchandising group start date has been moved up to JUNE 26!!! YAY!
2. signing our lease for our apartment in NY within the next day or two! living in williamsburg (in brooklyn)...but atleast its better than the box i would have lived in in manhatten. 3 br's, 2 bathrooms, huge living room, lovely kitchen & dining area, washer/dryer IN the unit, ground floor so no walking up stairs or crap like that, 3 blocks from the subway...PLUS I HAVE a BACKYARD. wohooooo come visit starting JUNE 1st.
3. senior week has been great. have been drinking too much and getting no sleep...sounds about right.
<3 anyone want to take some mini trips in june?? or maybe a big trip??

| notes to myself so i remember all the amazing things i've seen thus far.
NIGHT 1 -7 hour layover from barcelona to madrid = taking bus to sitges. very cute, quaint town near the ocean. -getting to madrid at 3am by taxi = 32 euros. awesome
DAY 1 -within the first waking hour of being in madrid (whilst changing to a new hotel) got my backpack stolen...police caught the robbers...spent the rest of the day in police office until 4pm - real super scary experience, but one that i needed because i'm so naive and trusting. people - watch your bags...and watch out because those robbers are SNEAKY and FAST. -puerto del sol - the best icecream EVER at palazzo, my favorite heladeria! -plaza mayor for lunch - all of the restaurants had outside seating and you basically have to snatch a table as soon as someone gets up. so we ended up sharing a table with an austrian woman who was a dentist. paid 4 euros for a really small diet coke. -palacio real where we bumped into penn kids! -went walking around...then shopping in plaza espagna and gran via (which is almost like a small new york) -met up with penn kids for an amazingly delicious dinner of lobster paella at a very small place at 20 tres peches (i can't remember the name, but it starts with a V). some of the best food i've had in a long time, and very yummy mojitos. -clubbing at kapitale until 4am -churros & chocolate place for early morning-snack till 6am
DAY 2 - a relaxing day. -bumped into penn kids and went to flea market, El Rastro -Museo del Prado -Parque del Retiro - the best garden/park to go to....cute pond with boats! -ate icecream at Palazzo! -siesta!! -attempted to go out for tapas and Pacha...but failed because no restaurants had food on Sunday night at 12am...and Pacha was closed -came back to sol and went into the first tapas bar open...shared a lot of dishes with some great company - tortilla espagnol, seafood paella, croquettes, potado aioli, and sangria, all for 8 euros each!
I LOVE SPAIN. i love eating lunch late, siesta-ing, waking up at 10pm and eating dinner at midnite, then partying till 5am. i love the parks. i love the public spaces. i love the people! i love that the people eat icecream all the time!
ciao para now~

| CSA CULTURAL SHOW = OVER!
Can't believe it was my final cultural show. I still remember trying out for the cultural show freshman year. We were in the highrises and the director/producers made me read my lines with a fobby accent. At that time, I had no idea what a "fobby accent" was. I guess I wasn't aware of my differences...or the stereotyped differences of being Asian. But, I can't decide if my ignorance was stupidity or a blessing. It is convenient to fit in...to believe you are not different from anyone else. I never saw my skin color, language differences, etc as something that would or should alienate myself from my other non-Asian peers. But in college, it seems to be a trend. Now, it's almost impossible to ignore somebody's ethnicity. Almost impossible for me to not naturally segregate myself. While I have more pride in being Taiwanese-American now more than ever before, I also blindly accept and even entertain Asian stereotypes now more than ever before. Was it worth the trade-off?
Big events to prepare for next: SENIOR THESIS OPENING EXHIBIT! march DRAG SHOW! march BARRIO! april AMA CASE COMPETITION IN NEW ORLEANS! april
Look what I discovered...draw a mustache on your index finger...put it under your nose...and take a wonderful picture!! = hours of fun!! | | |
